The ME 888 Marathon Ultra is built for fully loaded cruisers and heavyweight tourers. The reinforced carcass carries the weight of a pillion and panniers without the rear going vague on a long sweeper. Metzeler's silica compound holds grip through cold British mornings and standing water, and the groove geometry runs the rain off rather than tramlining on worn A-roads. The radial casing keeps its profile as the miles stack up, so the steering feels the same at 12,000 as it did new. Riders touring two-up across a season get the mileage they fit it for. A 180/70 R16 OE fitment on plenty of big-bore cruisers.
