A rim lock earns its place when the trail turns to slop. Drop your pressures for grip off-road and the tyre will try to spin on the rim. This 1.85" alloy unit clamps the bead tight so it can't, which is what saves the valve stem from shearing clean out of the tube. The wider body suits mid-sized rear wheels and broader front setups. Its rubber-moulded outer face shields the tube from the metal where the two sit close. Fit it square between the beads first, then tighten the nut down evenly. Rush that step and you load the rim unevenly.
