The alloy body provides a solid grip against the bead, while the moulded rubber cover ensures your inner tube does not get pinched or chafed during heavy impacts. It is designed to fit standard narrow rims, preventing the tyre from spinning and ripping the valve stem out when you crack the throttle open in soft terrain. Fitting requires drilling the rim if a hole is not already present, but it is a small price to pay for the security it offers on technical trails.
